Concepts and Projects Currently In Progress:
•  The Þögul Leiftur (Silent Flashes) Exhibit (opened at Hofsos, Iceland, 2004)
•  Þögul Leiftur (Silent Flashes) book, in both English and Icelandic (scheduled for completion in 2008-09)
•  Silent Flashes film documentary (target date 2010)
•  Silent Flashes North American travelling exhibit, presenting the artistic and sociological aspects of Icelandic pioneer photography in North America to a broader North American audience (target date 2010-11)
•  Silent Flashes Photograph Archive and Database, preserving the largest collection of images relating to Icelandic immigration and settlement in North America (under development).

The challenges of the Silent Flashes Project:

•  to save old photographs from loss, destruction, or obscurity
•  to collect photographs together into a specialized archive
•  to create copies of rare images from Icelandic pioneer history
•  to promote awareness of photography as both history and art
•  to explore the work of Icelandic photographers in N America
•  to identify and index photographs as an accessible archive
•  to provide photographic resources for books, media, etc.
•  to examine the 'immigrant experience' through photography

The Silent Flashes Project is based at the Eyrarbakki Icelandic Heritage Centre near Hnausa, Manitoba.
